Android TV 1.2.0 is available now. Samsung Tizen 1.1.0 and LG webOS 1.3.0 are waiting for store approval and will appear once they are approved. They share these changes:
HTML playback
The apps can play slideshows set to HTML playback, with sharper slides and live content such as weather and flights refreshed on screen. If live content cannot load, the slide falls back to its prepared image.
Easier pairing and clearer messages
Pairing copes better with slow networks. When nothing is playing, the screen says why. A wrong TV clock, which breaks secure connections, is now explained on screen, and a Retry button appears when the connection keeps failing.
Free plan watermark with a scannable QR code
The watermark now shows InfoSlides branding and a QR code that anyone in the room can scan.
App-specific fixes
Tizen keeps the TV from dimming or going to standby while the app runs. On Android, the pairing screen opens with the code field ready, Back returns to the start screen instead of closing the app, and the grey play button before the first slide is gone.
Older apps never go dark on HTML
The new Samsung and LG app versions are still being approved, and the versions on those TVs today cannot play HTML. Until the new versions are out, we recommend the Stream output format for any slideshow that plays on a Samsung or LG screen. We will announce when the new versions are available.
If an HTML slideshow does land on a screen whose app is too old, InfoSlides switches it to Stream so the screen keeps playing, and tells you which screens need an app update. Playing in a browser always works.
What this means for you: update Android TV screens now, and Samsung and LG screens once their versions are approved. Screens pair faster and fail more clearly.
