AI Studio is a chat-style assistant for building slides. Describe what you want, "add a welcome slide", "make a slide from this photo", "build a slideshow from this document" and it generates the slide directly into the deck you're working on, ready to review and keep or discard.
It's available on Starter and higher plans. On Free, the button is hidden entirely, unless you're covered by a free trial, in which case it shows up with a limited number of slides before it needs an upgrade to continue. See The free trial below.
Where to find it
Click AI Studio in the header of a slideshow's detail page, or click one of the prompt chips (Generate an event slide, Create a welcome screen, Add a promotions slide, Announce a news update) that appear when a slideshow has no slides yet — either hands your request straight to the assistant.
On desktop it opens as a 400px panel docked to the right of the slide grid, so you can watch slides appear in the deck as you work. On mobile, there isn't room for that, so it opens as its own full page instead — which also means the phone's back button works the way you'd expect, rather than needing a close button inside the panel.
Using the assistant
Type a request in the composer and the assistant works through it conversationally — asking a follow-up question when it needs one, and generating a preview card once it has enough to work with. Review the result, then accept it into the deck or ask for changes.
After a slide is generated, thumbs up / thumbs down buttons sit on the result. A thumbs-down vote on a slide sometimes offers to walk you through a guided, step-by-step version of the same request instead — useful when free-form chat isn't landing on what you meant.
What you can ask it to do
- Generate a single slide from a written description.
- Turn a photo into a slide — attach one image, or several at once for a batch of slides.
- Generate slides from a spreadsheet, one row becoming one slide.
- Build an entire slideshow from a document.
- Set up a content source from a document — the assistant reads it and proposes the feed configuration for you, rather than you filling in the source form by hand.
AI credits
Generation draws against your tenant's monthly AI credit budget — separate allowances for text slides, images and video, all set by your plan. Once a budget is used up for the month, the assistant tells you so rather than failing silently, and generation resumes automatically at the next billing cycle.
The free trial
A Free-plan tenant without AI Studio on its plan can still be granted a trial — a fixed number of slides to try the assistant with no upgrade required. The trial has three states:
- Available — not started yet. The panel shows an offer overlay in front of it; starting the trial dismisses the overlay and lets you generate.
- Active — in progress. The panel works normally, and a running count of slides remaining is visible as you go.
- Ended — the trial's slide allowance is used up. The panel shows an overlay again, this time pointing at an upgrade rather than an offer to start.
Because of the trial, seeing the AI Studio button doesn't always mean your plan includes it outright — if an overlay appears the moment you open it, that's the trial state talking, not a bug.
Tips
- Vote with the thumbs buttons even on results you keep. It's the main signal that shapes how the assistant answers similar requests later.
- For a whole deck at once, lead with the document or spreadsheet upload rather than describing the content by hand — it's both faster and closer to what you actually have.
- If generation suddenly stops working mid-month, check the credit budget before assuming something's broken — it resets on the next billing cycle, not on request.
- On a Free plan, don't assume the button being visible means unlimited use — check whether you're in a trial and how many slides are left before building a whole deck around it.
