A schedule tells one device what to play and when. Each entry is a time slot — a start time, an end time, and a slideshow — and the device plays whichever slot matches the current time. Schedules repeat every day.
A schedule is not required to get a screen working. A device with a Paired Slideshow set on its detail page plays that slideshow with no schedule at all, which is the simplest setup there is. Build a schedule when you want the screen to show different content at different times of day.
Where to find it
Open a device and click Manage → in its Slideshow Schedule panel, or go to Schedules in the sidebar and pick a device. The Back to Device → link returns you.
What decides what plays
Three things can claim a screen, and they resolve in a fixed order:
- A time slot whose window contains the current time.
- The default (fallback) entry, if one exists — it has no time restriction and covers everything the slots don't.
- The device's Paired Slideshow, set on the device's own page.
Read that order downward when a screen surprises you. A paired slideshow that never appears means something above it is claiming the screen — most often a default entry, which by design applies at every hour of the day.
The 24-hour timeline

The timeline across the top shows the whole day at a glance, with each slot drawn in position and a marker at the current time. It is the quickest way to spot a gap — an hour with nothing over it is an hour where only the default entry (or the paired slideshow) will play.
Schedule Details
Below the timeline, every entry is listed with its slideshow, its time window and its length in minutes. Entries carry badges:
- Running Now — this is the entry currently in effect.
- Default / Fallback — this entry has no time window and plays whenever no slot applies.
- Matches screen — the slideshow's resolution matches the device's, so it fills the screen properly.
- Different layout — it doesn't. Hover the badge to see both values, e.g. a portrait slideshow scheduled onto a landscape screen. The slot still plays; it just won't look right, which is worth catching here rather than on the wall.
Adding and editing a time slot
Click Add Time Slot, pick a slideshow, and set a start and end time. Click any existing entry to edit it, or delete it from the same dialog.
Four rules are enforced when you save:
- A slideshow must be selected.
- End must be after start. This means a slot cannot cross midnight — see below.
- Slots cannot overlap. Two entries claiming the same minute is rejected rather than resolved silently, so the schedule can never be ambiguous about what plays.
- Only one default is allowed. If one already exists, remove it before making another entry the default.
Overnight slots need two entries
Because end must be after start, a single slot cannot run from 22:00 to 06:00. Split it: one entry from 22:00 to 23:59, and a second from 00:00 to 06:00, both pointing at the same slideshow. They don't overlap, so both save cleanly.
Schedules are daily, not weekly
There is no day-of-week setting — every entry applies every day. If you need a slideshow that only runs on certain days, use slide conditions inside the slideshow rather than the schedule.
Setting a default slideshow
In the entry dialog, tick Use as default/fallback slideshow (no time restriction) and the start and end fields disappear. That entry then plays at any time no slot covers.
A default is the difference between a screen that goes quiet between slots and one that always has something on it. If your slots cover only office hours, add a default so the screen isn't blank overnight.
A note on the clock
The Current time, the timeline marker and the Running Now badge all come from your own computer's clock, while the device decides what to play using your workspace's timezone (set in Workspace Settings on the dashboard).
These agree as long as you're working in the same timezone as the workspace. If you're not, treat this page's "now" as your local time, not the screen's — the entry actually playing is the one that matches the workspace's clock.
Tips
- Add the default entry first, then carve the day up with slots. That way the screen is never blank while you're still building the schedule.
- If a screen is showing the wrong thing, look for Running Now before anything else — it tells you which entry the schedule believes is in effect.
- Different layout is worth acting on. A portrait deck on a landscape screen is letterboxed, and it is much easier to notice here than by looking at the wall.
- Gaps are legitimate. If you want a screen dark between slots, simply don't set a default and leave the hours uncovered — just make sure the device has no paired slideshow either, or that will fill the gap.
- The minute count beside each slot is a quick sanity check that a slot is as long as you meant it to be.
