Stream vs. Download — Why It Matters for Multi-Screen Deployments

Mandoe's file-push model works like this: you update content → the system re-encodes → files download to each player → each player loops playback locally. For a single screen this is fine. For a restaurant with 8 screens showing the same menu, or a hotel with 12 lobby displays that need to sync instantly, the download-and-sync model introduces problems.

When you update pricing on a Mandoe menu board, the new file begins downloading to each device. On slow internet, or with many screens, this can take several minutes. During that window, some screens show old prices while others show new. Inventory shows as available on one screen while sold-out on another.

InfoSlides works differently. Your presentation encodes once into a continuous HLS stream. When you update content, the stream updates. Every screen pulls the same stream simultaneously. There is no download, no sync, no gap. Price changes appear on all 12 screens at the same second.

Content Input

PowerPoint vs. Template-Based Design

If your team creates presentations in PowerPoint, InfoSlides is a direct fit. Upload your .pptx file and it renders into the live stream with full fidelity — animations, custom fonts, brand layouts, everything.

Mandoe does not accept PowerPoint uploads. Instead, you re-design your content using Mandoe's templates. This works well if you are building signage from scratch, but creates friction if you already have polished presentations. You would need to manually recreate each slide in Mandoe's builder.

Mandoe excels at quick content creation through templates (similar to Canva). InfoSlides excels at re-purposing existing PowerPoint presentations.

Live Data Integration

Both platforms support live data (weather, news, Instagram feeds). The difference is presentation. Mandoe displays dynamic content as widget overlays — a small weather badge in a corner, a news ticker bar, an Instagram feed box positioned on top of the static layout.

InfoSlides renders live data as full-screen slides inside the video stream. Google Reviews appear as polished slides with reviewer photos, star ratings, text, and your workspace logo. Weather conditions show as branded cards. News headlines display as templates you control. The result looks like intentional signage, not web widgets pasted over a PowerPoint deck.

For hospitality, retail, and any business where screen appearance matters to customers, this distinction is significant. A restaurant serving a five-star review on a beautiful branded slide is very different from a small widget badge.

Smart Slide Rules

Reactive Content vs. Static Schedules

InfoSlides includes smart slide rules — conditions that automatically control whether a slide appears based on live data. Show "sold out" only when inventory levels drop to zero.

These rules evaluate automatically against real data sources at broadcast time. You set them once, and the screen behaves intelligently regardless of external conditions.

Mandoe does not have this feature. Content is scheduled: it plays on Monday at 9am, or all day on weekends, or during specific time windows. But it cannot react to live data. If the weather changes, staff must manually update the display.

Mandoe is purely UI-based. Every change requires someone clicking buttons in the Mandoe dashboard. There is no API, no CLI, no way to automate updates. For technical teams, for data-driven displays, for systems that need to react to real-time events, this difference is fundamental.
